Vietnam raises military and civil servant salaries effective July 2026

Vietnam's Ministry of Defence issued a circular setting the defence sector's base salary at 2.53 million dong per month from 1 July. The new pay scale for professional soldiers and technical staff ranges from 7.463 million dong for entry‑level ranks up to 19.481 million dong for senior positions. Defence workers' wages are also adjusted, ranging between 6.831 million and 16.824 million dong depending on rank and grade.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is preparing a decree that will raise the base salary for civil servants, public‑sector employees and armed‑force personnel to the same 2.53 million dong from 1 July 2026, replacing the current 2.34 million dong rate. A separate decree will increase pensions, social‑insurance and monthly allowances by 8% starting the same date, affecting roughly 3.4 million retirees and adding about 10.773 trillion dong to the state budget.
