Vietnam PM Lê Minh Hưng Leads Government‑Business Forum to Boost Growth

On July 18, 2026 the Prime Minister of Vietnam, Lê Minh Hưng, chaired a standing‑government meeting with the domestic and foreign business community at the Government headquarters. The forum, attended by several deputy prime ministers and senior officials, was titled “Removing obstacles – Unlocking resources – Boosting growth” and emphasized that achieving the government’s two‑digit growth target depends heavily on the private sector.

Prime Minister Hưng reported a 6‑month GDP growth of 8.18 % – the highest since 2011 – and outlined six priority actions to improve the institutional framework, streamline administrative procedures (cutting processing time and compliance costs by more than 50 %), and enhance policy predictability. Businesses raised a range of issues, including tax‑exemption thresholds, land costs, financing, regulatory transparency and the need for a tracking system to monitor the handling of their proposals.

Representatives of the United States and other foreign investors highlighted recent reforms, such as Politburo Resolution No. 10 on the foreign‑invested sector, and pledged continued investment in priority areas. Vietnamese business associations, including the Young Entrepreneurs Forum, submitted over 450 concrete suggestions and called for a transparent electronic mechanism to follow up on all recommendations. The government pledged to address institutional bottlenecks immediately while continuing longer‑term reforms to sustain high‑speed, inclusive economic development.
