Vietnam records 7.18 M university applications, 2.36 M for STEM
The Ministry of Education and Training's admission system recorded more than 874,000 high‑school graduates registering 7,180,860 university program choices for the 2026 intake. About 70.4% of the 1,241,914 eligible candidates entered their preferences, meaning roughly 387,000 students did not apply for university this year.
STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) programmes attracted the strongest interest, with 467,590 applicants submitting a total of 2,368,179 choices—about one‑third of all applications. The remaining 331,693 candidates applied to non‑STEM fields, generating 1,291,839 choices. The data will be used by universities to conduct admissions according to existing regulations.
