As part of the ‘500-day campaign’ to search for, recover, and identify the remains of fallen soldiers, authorities have recovered 3,895 sets of remains, reaching 55.64% of the established goal. This total includes 2,583 remains found within Vietnam, 242 in Laos, and 1,070 in Cambodia.
In Ho Chi Minh City, specifically at Le Thi Rieng Cultural Park, 832 remains have been recovered. On October 14, 2026, a ceremony was held to honor and bury 731 of these remains. Following this, search teams continued excavations in the area, discovering an additional 58 remains between October 15 and October 20.
The operation involves 32 search teams totaling 1,588 personnel, including 13 domestic teams and 19 teams operating abroad in Laos and Cambodia. Alongside recovery efforts, authorities are prioritizing DNA sampling and database synchronization to identify the fallen. To date, sampling has been completed for 211,300 martyr graves across 34 provinces and cities.
