Vietnam recovers personal artifacts to identify unidentified martyrs

Authorities in Vietnam are recovering personal artifacts from unidentified martyrs' graves to assist in DNA identification efforts.

In An Giang province, officials at Hon Dat Martyrs Cemetery discovered items including black rubber sandals, a metal necklace, metal tweezers, and buttons. The An Giang Steering Committee 515 has requested that relatives or former comrades share any information regarding these specific items to help identify the deceased.

In Quang Ngai province, the Quang Ngai Military Command reported finding a leather wallet at the Ba To Martyrs Cemetery. The wallet contained the handwritten signature ‘Trong Thanh’ and the numbers ‘20. 3. 70’, which officials believe may represent a name and an enlistment date. Other items previously recovered in the region included a small photo album and a wallet belonging to ‘Dinh Xuan Me’. These artifacts serve as critical evidence to support DNA testing and historical record verification.
