Vietnam recovers remains of martyrs lost nearly 60 years ago

Authorities in Vietnam are conducting recovery operations to relocate the remains of martyrs who died nearly 60 years ago.

In Thường Tân Commune, five martyrs' remains were successfully recovered from a deep well in Lạc An 3 hamlet. Following the recovery, a ceremony was held to transfer the remains to the Tân Uyên Martyrs Cemetery in Tân Hiệp ward. Local witnesses identified some of the fallen as martyrs Bạch and Triều, who were killed in an ambush during military duties. Local officials have announced plans to build a memorial at the site of the original grave to honor their sacrifice.

Simultaneously, in Đặng Thùy Trâm Commune, Quảng Ngãi Province, armed forces have been searching difficult mountainous terrain on Sim Hill. Based on historical accounts from a 78-year-old witness who previously assisted in burials, nine sets of remains have been found so far, with eight recovered specifically from the hill. Search teams are working with local residents and historical witnesses to verify locations, as the landscape has changed significantly over the decades.
