Vietnam Register designates two units to test child car safety equipment

The Vietnam Register has temporarily designated two organizations, the Motor Vehicle Testing Center (VMTC) and VCT Service Joint Stock Company, to conduct testing for child safety equipment used in automobiles. This testing must comply with the QCVN 123:2024/BGTVT standard to support state management and quality assessment before products enter the market.

This designation comes ahead of new quality management regulations scheduled for implementation on July 1, 2026. Under these new rules, products are categorized into low, medium, and high risk levels. Child safety equipment is classified as a medium-risk product, requiring mandatory certification and conformity declaration by accredited organizations.

Additionally, current regulations mandate that drivers transporting children under 10 years old and under 1.35 meters in height must use appropriate safety equipment, except in commercial passenger transport vehicles. Failure to comply with these safety standards may result in penalties.
