Vietnam unveils major heritage restoration and cultural festivals in July 2026
Vietnam’s provincial Culture, Sports and Tourism Department is carrying out a $3.4 million restoration of the Duong Long Cham tower complex in Hue, with 40 % of the work completed and new resin and specially made bricks used to match the 12th‑century masonry.
The city of Hue opened the “Imperial Heritage – Excellence United” exhibition, displaying over 100 Nguyen‑dynasty artifacts from private collections and the royal museum, while immersive 3D‑mapping shows at the Women’s Museum highlight the nation’s cultural values.
Da Nang hosted the International Fireworks Festival, which Portugal won, and launched the Vietnam‑Japan Festival to deepen bilateral ties in culture, investment and tourism. Hanoi opened the Grand Esports 2026 event, signaling esports’ growing role in the national sports strategy and digital economy.
In a nationwide tribute, all major commercial cinemas offered free screenings throughout a week to honor war heroes and veterans. Parallel initiatives include a new legal framework and digitisation programme to preserve Vietnam’s documentary heritage for future generations.
