Vietnam rice export prices surge while pork prices hit yearly low

Vietnam's agricultural commodity market showed divergent trends in late July. Export‑grade rice prices rose sharply, with IR504 trading at 9,650‑9,750 VND/kg and VFA reporting a 5% fragrant rice increase of $8 per tonne to $455‑$459. Jasmine rice remained stable around $546‑$550 per tonne. Pepper prices rebounded, with domestic buying rates reaching 138,000‑141,500 VND/kg and international black‑pepper prices staying steady.

At the same time, pork (heo hơi) prices continued to fall, reaching the lowest levels of the year. In the south, average prices were about 61,000 VND/kg, while the central region saw prices around 60,000‑62,000 VND/kg. The northern market recorded prices between 62,000‑64,000 VND/kg, with certain provinces such as Ninh Bình and Đắk Lắk reporting the lowest regional rates of 62,000 VND/kg and 60,000 VND/kg respectively. These price movements reflect shifting supply dynamics and demand patterns across Vietnam's farming sectors.
