Vietnam pork market pressure deepens
Entities: An Giang Province · Vietnam · Bình Long · Ho Chi Minh City · Vietnam Food Association
Overview
Thailand’s pork sector remained under pressure in late May 2026, with farm‑gate prices still below costs. In Vietnam, the downward trend in live‑pig prices continued through July. By the week to 26 July, northern provinces traded between 62,000‑65,000 VND/kg, the central‑highlands around 95,800‑96,000 VND/kg, and the south between 62,000‑63,000 VND/kg. Late‑July data show pork reaching its lowest levels of the year: the south averaging about 61,000 VND/kg, the central region 60,000‑62,000 VND/kg, and the north 62,000‑64,000 VND/kg, with provinces such as Ninh Bình and Đắk Lắk reporting the lowest rates.
Vietnam’s domestic coffee price in the Central Highlands stayed down by roughly 1,900 VND/kg, even as international coffee futures on London and New York exchanges edged higher. Export‑oriented rice prices reversed earlier declines, with IR504 trading near 9,650‑9,750 VND/kg and fragrant rice rising to $455‑$459 per tonne. Jasmine rice remained stable around $546‑$550 per tonne, and pepper prices rebounded domestically.
These movements reflect seasonal supply pressures and shifting demand across Vietnam’s agricultural markets, affecting farmers, traders, and retailers.
