Vietnam-Russia investment ties highlighted at St Petersburg economic forum

A seminar titled “Vietnam Economic Day” was held on 18 May at the St Petersburg State University of Economics as part of Vietnam Week in the Russian city. The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese embassy in Russia, the St Petersburg Committee for External Relations, the university and the “Tradition and Friendship” fund.

Vietnam’s ambassador Dang Minh Khoi, along with officials from Hanoi, St Petersburg and the Vietnamese community in Russia, said economic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia is entering a new phase with promising growth opportunities. The programme combined a business round‑table, a youth business forum and cultural activities, and highlighted local‑to‑local partnerships, especially between St Petersburg and Vietnamese provinces.

Key sessions discussed bilateral trade, investment, tourism, healthcare, services and educational cooperation, stressing Vietnam’s role as a fast‑growing gateway to the ASEAN market. Participants exchanged research and practical experience to explore joint projects, while the Leningrad Oblast expressed interest in strengthening people‑to‑people and economic ties with Vietnamese regions.
