Vietnam schedules major 2026 cultural events in Hanoi and Can Tho

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, together with the Architecture Magazine and the Vietnam Architects Association, launched the 2026 Creative Space Design Competition on July 18. The contest, themed “Hanoi – Awakening Urban Space,” follows Hanoi’s 2019 inclusion in UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network and aims to generate innovative urban design proposals that can be incorporated into the city’s future development.

The city of Cần Tho announced the second edition of its Water Culture Festival, to be held from December 30 2026 to January 4 2027. Titled “Cần Tho – Harmony of Waterways,” the festival will feature a televised opening ceremony, drone light shows, water performances, fireworks, and a New‑Year countdown. Organisers seek to showcase the Mekong Delta’s riverine heritage, boost tourism and commerce, and promote sustainable environmental awareness.
