Vietnam school year begins amid administrative changes and makeup debates

As the new school year begins in Vietnam, various educational developments and debates are emerging. In Ha Tinh province, authorities are implementing several measures, including the reassignment of 14 high school principals following school network restructuring and the review of support policies for disadvantaged, poor, and near-poor students.

Additionally, local initiatives are supporting students, such as the deployment of three “zero-dong” buses to transport 120 students from Ha Tinh to Hanoi for the start of the semester. Meanwhile, a debate has surfaced regarding school regulations that prohibit female students from wearing makeup. While some parents and students argue these rules are outdated and hinder self-expression, educators suggest that strict prohibitions help maintain discipline and prevent social inequality driven by beauty trends and expensive products.
