Vietnam and OECD expand cooperation in public finance and investment
Vietnam's Ministry of Finance and the OECD are expanding their strategic cooperation to focus on public finance, public asset management, and taxation. During recent discussions, Minister Ngo Van Tuan proposed updating the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to include public asset management and to rename the cooperation area from ‘Public Finance and Tax’ to ‘Public Finance, Public Assets, and Tax’.
The proposed cooperation aims to enhance technical support for collecting and analyzing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) data according to international standards. Key areas of focus for future research and implementation include the development of large private enterprises, the green transition of FDI-funded companies, the establishment of green finance systems, and tax management for individual business households in the digital era.
Additionally, the two parties are exploring expanded cooperation in investment policy review to align with the OECD Declaration on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises. This includes improving capacities for managing international investment disputes and promoting responsible business practices. A new action plan for the next cooperation phase is expected to be signed during the OECD Secretary-General's visit to Vietnam in early 2027.
