Vietnam outlines new economic development model and growth targets

Vietnam has introduced a series of strategic resolutions aimed at restructuring its national development model. Under Resolution No. 19, the country is shifting from a growth model reliant on capital and labor toward one driven by innovation, science, technology, and digital transformation.

Key economic targets established by the Politburo’s Action Programme No. 33 include achieving an average annual GDP growth of at least 10% between 2026 and 2030, followed by 8% to 8.5% from 2031 to 2035, and approximately 7.5% from 2036 to 2045. Additionally, the government aims for the green economy to constitute 10% of the GDP by 2030.

Social and diplomatic initiatives are also underway. Resolution No. 23, signed by President To Lam, focuses on engaging the overseas Vietnamese community to strengthen national unity. Meanwhile, the 500-Day Campaign has successfully recovered 1,715 fallen soldiers' remains as of August 2026.
