Vietnam sets 2045 goal to become regional cultural and creative hub

In July 2026 Vietnam’s leadership, led by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, signed a decision that implements the Party’s “80‑NQ/TW” resolution and launches a comprehensive cultural diplomacy strategy covering the period to 2030 with a long‑term vision toward 2045.

The strategy seeks to turn culture into a pillar of soft power and a driver of double‑digit economic growth. Key targets include developing at least ten globally competitive heritage‑tourism destinations, securing UNESCO recognition for five additional heritage elements, launching five internationally branded arts festivals, and earning fifteen more UNESCO awards by 2045.

To support these goals, Vietnam plans to open up to three new cultural centres abroad, expand digitalisation of cultural assets, and position itself as a leading regional cultural and creative hub capable of hosting major global events such as a World Expo.
