Vietnam slashes gasoline and diesel prices on Aug 6

On August 6, 2026, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade together with the Ministry of Finance announced a coordinated reduction in retail prices for gasoline, diesel and mazut effective from 15:00 local time.

The new price caps are 21,728 VND per litre for E5 RON92 gasoline (down 660 VND), 22,324 VND per litre for E10 RON95 gasoline (down 530 VND), 27,544 VND per litre for diesel (down 80 VND) and 16,391 VND per kilogram for mazut (down 80 VND).

The adjustment follows a period of price increases and is attributed to global market factors such as the United States ending attacks on Iran, OPEC+ output plans and the ongoing Russia‑Ukraine conflict, which have shifted world fuel prices.

For this cycle the ministries will not draw on the fuel‑price stabilization fund, although a 200 VND per litre reserve is set for bio‑fuel. Authorities will monitor compliance and enforce penalties for any violations.
