Vietnam expands social housing targets and credit packages

Vietnam is intensifying efforts to expand social housing and rental housing across several provinces. In Quang Ninh, authorities are preparing resources to meet a target of 15,387 units between 2026 and 2030. Ho Chi Minh City is working to develop over 181,000 social housing units, focusing on resolving land fund issues and streamlining investment procedures. The city has also expanded its list of projects eligible for sale to foreign individuals and organizations to 160 projects.

Hanoi is proposing new land plots totaling approximately 19 hectares for social housing projects. Meanwhile, the State Bank of Vietnam reported that the credit package for social housing has increased to 153 trillion VND, though disbursement remains slow at approximately 11% of the total scale.

In the private sector, Vinhomes has introduced interest rate support policies, offering fixed rates between 3% and 9% for up to five years to mitigate the impact of potentially rising mortgage rates, which could reach 15-16% per annum after initial incentive periods.
