Vietnam social insurance and unemployment benefit regulations
New guidelines in Vietnam outline procedures for workers regarding social insurance and unemployment benefits.
Workers who have reached retirement age but have not contributed enough years to social insurance to qualify for a pension may apply for a monthly allowance. Eligible individuals receive a decision of benefit, a record of their social insurance contributions, and free health insurance. Applications can be submitted via the Public Service Portal, directly at social insurance agencies, or through postal services using Form 14-HSB.
Regarding unemployment benefits, workers who secure a new job with a labor contract of one month or longer are considered employed. They must notify their employment service organization within three working days of the contract's effective date. Failure to report employment may result in the loss of preserved unemployment insurance contribution time, administrative penalties, and a requirement to repay incorrectly received benefits. Employers are responsible for providing labor contracts to employees within two working days and registering mandatory social insurance within 30 days of the contract's effective date.
