Vietnam Solar hosts gala as new rooftop solar decree takes effect

On 26 June 2026 the Vietnamese government issued Decree 243/2026/NĐ‑CP, amending earlier regulations on rooftop solar self‑production and the Direct Power Purchase Agreement (DPPA). The decree clarifies installation notification procedures and the mechanism for selling surplus electricity, aiming to create a clearer legal framework for households and businesses.

The same day, Vietnam Solar co‑organized a Gala Dinner in Ho Chi Minh City with partners AIKO, Sigenergy and Sunkean. Held on 8 July 2026, the event gathered more than 350 industry participants, including distributors, EPC contractors and customers. Director Võ Phú Hữu highlighted the company’s nationwide network of three branches, three distribution warehouses and 50 sales points, stressing the importance of collaboration to expand the solar market under the new policy.

Analysts note that the decree comes as Vietnam targets 46 459–73 416 MW of solar capacity by 2030, but warn that grid absorption, transmission upgrades, storage and flexible generation are needed to avoid past overloads.
