Vietnam speeds up Cà Mau airport expansion and My An‑Cao Lanh highway construction

The Cà Mau Airport upgrade, overseen by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and built by the 470th Construction Corps, is on track for completion and reopening on 1 November 2026. The project, valued at about VND 2.4 trillion, will raise the airport’s capacity to one million passengers and 1,000 tonnes of cargo per year, with plans to eventually handle three million passengers by 2050. Construction includes runway resurfacing, drainage, fencing, and the installation of a new passenger terminal.

Meanwhile, the first phase of the My An‑Cao Lanh highway in Đồng Tháp province is being accelerated. Contractors have mobilised hundreds of engineers, workers and around 240 pieces of equipment, aiming to finish the project 4–5 months ahead of schedule. By the end of July 2026, more than 25 % of the contract value will be completed, with 18 bridges under construction and key works such as pile‑driving, concrete production and road base preparation progressing rapidly. The highway is expected to enhance connectivity across the Mekong Delta region.
