Vietnam stock market faces volatility amid liquidity and foreign selling pressures
The Vietnamese stock market is experiencing a period of volatility and declining liquidity. The VN-Index closed October at 1,741.62 points, marking its second consecutive month of decline. Market analysts note that while the market has seen some recovery attempts, liquidity remains weak and foreign investors continue a trend of net selling.
Technical analysis suggests the index is testing key support levels, with experts monitoring the 1,700 to 1,740 point range. While some analysts see potential for a return to the 1,760 to 1,770 point level if large-cap stocks and the banking sector recover, others warn of continued pressure from weak cash flow and sector-specific sell-offs, particularly in materials and finance.
In the broader economic context, the market is also navigating fluctuating interest rates. Although the State Bank of Vietnam has encouraged credit institutions to reduce lending rates for priority sectors, businesses are still managing capital costs and debt repayment capabilities amidst shifting market sentiments.
