Vietnam stock market to join FTSE Global Index in August 2026
FTSE Russell will announce on 21 August 2026 the inclusion of Vietnamese equities in the FTSE Global Equity Index Series, moving them out of the FTSE Frontier Index. The upgrade follows Vietnam’s compliance with market‑access requirements, including the Global Broker model and a non‑pre‑funding mechanism. FTSE expects the full inclusion to attract roughly $1.5 billion of passive‑fund inflows, with Vietnam representing about 0.03 % of the FTSE Global All‑Cap at that time.
On the same date, VIX (Vietstock Securities JSC) will close its shareholder list to issue more than 122 million new shares as a 5 % dividend. The issuance will raise the company’s charter capital to VND 25.7 trillion. VIX reported a sharp decline in pre‑tax profit for Q2 2026, down 95 % year‑on‑year, and a 31.7 % drop in operating revenue, while its loan‑to‑client portfolio grew. The firm targets a pre‑tax profit of VND 3.5 trillion for 2026.
