Vietnam stock market: 27 stocks added to FTSE All-Cap Index

FTSE Russell has expanded the number of Vietnamese stocks in its Global Equity Index Series, adding 27 companies to the FTSE All-Cap Index. This move coincides with Vietnam’s transition toward the secondary emerging market classification.

As a result of this expansion and market rebalancing, the weight of Vietnam in the FTSE Emerging All Cap Index is expected to rise from 0.329% to 0.49%. Analysts estimate this could trigger approximately $2.2 billion (roughly 78.9 trillion VND) in cumulative passive inflows, to be implemented in four tranches starting in September 2026 and concluding in late 2027.

The 27 included stocks span various sectors, including banking, financial services, consumer goods, real estate, and technology. Notable large-cap inclusions include Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC), and Vinhomes (VHM), while mid-cap additions include BIDV (BID), Hoa Phat (HPG), and VPBank (VPB). VPBank is specifically highlighted as a potential major beneficiary of increased foreign capital.

Beyond immediate capital inflows, experts suggest this shift marks a structural transformation for the Vietnamese market, moving it from a retail-dominated environment toward one with higher institutional participation from global brokers and passive funds.
