Vietnam Summer Camp 2026 in Hue brings together overseas Vietnamese youth

More than 100 young overseas Vietnamese, representing 32 countries and territories, gathered in Hue on July 17‑18, 2026 for the Vietnam Summer Camp. The event featured Vietnamese language games, singing, poetry, theater and presentations that highlighted Vietnamese culture and history.

Officials including Phạm Thị Kim Hoa, Deputy Head of the State Committee on Vietnamese overseas, and Bùi Thanh Phùng, a returnee who now manages the historic Lan Viên site, welcomed participants. The camp also included tours of the Lan Viên historic house and the nearby River Hương Ceramic Museum, showcasing over 5,000 artifacts, some dating back 2,500‑3,000 years. Diaspora scholars such as Dr. Thái Kim Lan shared personal stories of returning to Vietnam and preserving cultural heritage.

The program aimed to strengthen ties between the diaspora and their homeland, encouraging young participants to improve their Vietnamese language skills and deepen appreciation for Vietnam’s cultural legacy.
