Vietnam targets 6% GDP contribution from AI economy by 2030

Vietnam has outlined comprehensive strategies to advance its technological capabilities and artificial intelligence (AI) integration through 2030. A key component is the International Cooperation Strategy for Strategic Technologies, which focuses on six main solutions: creating favorable cooperation environments, implementing agreements, improving technology access, enhancing development capacity, supporting businesses, and policy advisory. This initiative aims to ensure national technological autonomy, sustainable development, and national security.

Parallel to this, a national AI strategy seeks to transform AI from a supporting tool into a core driver of governance, production, and public services. Economic targets include having the AI economy contribute approximately 6% of GDP by 2030, increasing labor productivity in AI-applied sectors by 10-15%, and reaching $5 billion in AI product and service exports. The strategy also aims to establish at least 10 regionally and internationally competitive AI brands and develop at least eight Vietnamese-language AI models. Furthermore, the government plans to integrate AI into 100% of online public services and administrative procedures.
