Vietnam targets ASEAN AI hub status by 2030

Vietnam is positioning itself to become an artificial intelligence (AI) hub for the ASEAN region by 2030, with the AI economy projected to account for 6% of its GDP. A report by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Strand Partners indicates rapid adoption, with the percentage of Vietnamese businesses utilizing AI rising from 18% last year to 26% this year. Approximately 245,000 enterprises currently use the technology, with an average of one new business adopting AI every seven minutes.

This technological shift is fundamentally altering the industrial real estate sector. Investors are moving beyond simple land acquisition to prioritize comprehensive ecosystems that include stable power supplies, high-tech infrastructure, and skilled labor. Reliable electricity is becoming a critical competitive factor, as data centers and high-tech projects require continuous, scalable power. With a projected electricity shortage of 61 billion kWh by 2030, the ability to guarantee energy security is now a primary requirement for industrial developers.
