Vietnam targets cultural industries to contribute 7% of GDP by 2030
Vietnam is moving toward a quantitative approach to managing its cultural sector to better integrate it into the national economy. Following Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo, the country has set specific targets for cultural industries, aiming for them to contribute 7% of GDP by 2030 and 9% by 2045. This shift aims to transition from qualitative assessments to objective, data-driven governance to support policy planning and resource allocation.
In Da Nang, efforts are being made to integrate cultural heritage into the modern creative economy. Local artists and officials are focusing on preserving traditional arts, such as Tuong opera, by adapting them to digital platforms and tourism. The goal is to ensure that heritage remains relevant to younger generations and the market through technological adaptation and innovative storytelling without losing its core identity.
