Vietnam targets data economy growth and green transition through improved data utilization
Vietnam is working toward developing a national data economy, with strategic goals set for the 2026–2030 period. The national data strategy aims to operate at least five data exchanges and foster at least 1,000 enterprises specializing in data technology, analysis, and artificial intelligence by 2030.
Nguyen Minh Tu, General Director of CRIF D&B Vietnam, noted that the current ecosystem lacks professional intermediaries capable of cleaning, standardizing, and packaging raw data into valuable products. While raw data is abundant, it remains fragmented across individual entities without centralized commercialization mechanisms.
Parallel to digital development, Vietnam is emphasizing the role of data in the green transition. To meet national green growth targets—such as reducing greenhouse gas emission intensity by 15% by 2030—accurate data on emissions and energy efficiency is required. While 82% of businesses in Vietnam collect ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) data, only about 10% utilize business analytics tools to support decision-making.
