Vietnam pursues economic reforms and major divestments

Vietnam is undergoing a significant economic transition aimed at becoming a high-income, developed nation by 2045. According to the World Bank, this involves deep reforms, including the largest administrative streamlining since the 'Doi Moi' era, improving the business environment, and expanding infrastructure through massive investments.

Key sectors are seeing major shifts. In the textile industry, the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) plans to divest its entire stake in Vinatex between 2026 and 2030. This move comes as Vinatex reaches record profits, making it a highly attractive asset for M&A activity.

In the logistics sector, there is a strong push for digitalization to reduce costs, which currently sit at approximately 16% of GDP. Experts emphasize that while individual companies are adopting technology, the industry must achieve seamless digital connectivity across the entire supply chain to remain competitive. Experts suggest that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must adopt hybrid digital models to bridge the gap with larger firms.
