Vietnam targets maritime economic growth through strategic coastal development

Vietnam is implementing strategic resolutions to transform into a strong maritime nation, with a long-term vision to 2045. National targets for 2030 include establishing five to six powerful marine economic centers and three special economic zones. Key objectives involve coastal provinces contributing over 70% to the national GDP, achieving an average GRDP growth rate of over 11% per year, and reducing logistics costs to below 12% of GDP.

Quảng Ninh province is positioning itself as a central player in this maritime strategy. With a coastline exceeding 250 km and over 2,000 islands, the province aims to become a global destination by 2045 through high-class marine eco-tourism and modern maritime infrastructure. Priority areas for Quảng Ninh include digital technology application in tourism, seaport infrastructure development, and logistics.

Other national goals include completing the planned coastal road network, investing in essential infrastructure for strategic islands, and developing offshore wind power with a capacity of 6 to 10 GW. The strategy also aims for the Vietnamese shipping fleet to handle 20% of the country's import-export freight market.
