Vietnam targets role in shifting global supply chains

Vietnam is positioning itself as a reliable destination within the shifting landscape of global supply chains. As international trade undergoes profound changes driven by geopolitics and trade policies, the World Trade Organization forecasts global merchandise trade growth of approximately 1.9% in 2026, a significant decrease from the 4.6% seen in 2025.

Global supply chains are restructuring toward diversification, regional production networks, and partnerships with highly reliable, geographically convenient, and economically stable partners. New requirements such as carbon emissions, traceability, and environmental standards—including mechanisms like CBAM and ESG—are becoming essential for market access.

To facilitate these connections, the Viet Nam International Sourcing 2026 (VIS 2026) event was held from September 3 to 5, 2026, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center. The event hosted over 580 international business delegations from 60 countries and territories, alongside more than 600 Vietnamese manufacturing and exporting enterprises. The forum aimed to connect Vietnamese supply capabilities with global buyer demands through thousands of B2B meetings and direct booth connections.
