Vietnam targets strong maritime nation status via Resolution 20-NQ/TW

Vietnam is working toward becoming a strong maritime nation through the implementation of Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW. During a national conference, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that by 2045, the country aims to be wealthy and sustainably developed from the sea, utilizing modern maritime governance and advanced technology.

The sea is viewed not only as a resource for fishing, mining, and tourism but as a vital space for survival, development, and the protection of national sovereignty. This strategy seeks to connect the mainland with islands and economic corridors to global ocean value chains.

In alignment with these national goals, An Giang province is focusing on developing eight dynamic urban centers to connect the sea, border, and inland spaces. These urban areas, including Long Xuyen and Rach Gia, are intended to serve as growth poles for logistics, high-tech agriculture, and international eco-tourism, contributing to the broader Mekong Delta economic breakthrough.
