Vietnam tax authorities accelerate refunds to support businesses

Vietnam's tax authorities are accelerating tax refund processes to provide more resources to businesses and improve the investment environment. According to the Tax Department, as of September 30, 2026, the agency has issued 14,668 tax refund decisions totaling 149,463 billion VND, representing a 46% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

Efforts to modernize the system include the electronic processing of 99% of refund requests. Currently, 87% of files are resolved within six working days. The tax sector is transitioning toward a management model based on 'support for compliance, risk-based management, and service according to demand' to foster economic growth.
