Vietnam thermal power plants reach 40 billion kWh and 350 billion kWh cumulative output milestones

The Nghi Sơn 1 coal‑fired plant, operated by EVNGENCO1, marked 12 years of commercial operation by producing a cumulative 40 billion kWh of electricity. The 600 MW facility, online since 2014, maintained high availability and contributed reliably to the national grid, especially during peak load periods.

Meanwhile, EVNGENCO3’s Phú My complex, comprising four units with a combined capacity of 2 540 MW, celebrated the production of a cumulative 350 billion kWh since its commissioning in 1997. Over nearly three decades, Phú My supplied roughly 36 % of southern Vietnam’s electricity and 15 % of the country’s total generation, operating safely for more than 1.4 million hours with availability above 93 %. Both plants are positioned as key assets for Vietnam’s energy security and are pursuing further efficiency, digitalization, and decarbonisation initiatives.
