Vietnam to add November 24 Culture Day as paid holiday
The Ministry of Home Affairs has drafted an amendment to Vietnam’s Labor Code that would insert Vietnam Culture Day on 24 November as an additional paid holiday. The change adds point g to clause 1 of article 112, raising the total number of paid holidays from eleven to twelve days per year. The proposal follows Politburo Resolution 80 on developing Vietnamese culture and would require the Prime Minister to set the exact holiday dates each year before 30 September. The draft law also revises the Law on Archives, the Law on Gender Equality and the Law on Red Cross activities. If the amendment is approved, workers will receive full pay for the new holiday.
