Vietnam to develop cultural industry centers in major cities

The Vietnamese government is moving to establish cultural industry centers to support creative businesses and reduce high urban operational costs. Under Resolution No. 299/NQ-CP, issued on September 29, 2026, the government aims to create stable spaces for creative production, performance, and distribution.

Key cities, including Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hue, Da Nang, Can Tho, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City, are required to identify land use needs, locations, and scales for these centers by October 2026. By December 2026, priority locations must select specific fields of advantage and identify up to three major leading projects. These projects must clearly define products, participating businesses, funding, markets, intellectual property, and expected contributions to GRDP, employment, exports, or tourism.
