Vietnam to launch road accident victim support fund in September

Starting September 1, 2026, Vietnam will implement a new support policy for road traffic accident victims and their families, funded by the Road Accident Damage Reduction Fund. The regulations, issued by the Ministry of Public Security, aim to provide financial assistance to disadvantaged individuals and support community reintegration.

Under the new guidelines, victims with bodily injuries between 31% and 81% who face financial hardship may receive up to VND 10 million ($384) per accident. For those with injuries exceeding 81%, the fund can provide up to VND 100 million ($3,840) per person to assist with community reintegration and development. Families of victims who have died and are experiencing economic hardship may receive up to VND 20 million ($768) per case.

The policy also extends support to those providing immediate aid. Organizations directly involved in emergency treatment or transport may receive up to VND 10 million per case, while individuals may receive up to VND 5 million. The actual disbursement amounts will be determined based on submitted documentation, specific circumstances, and legal regulations. Applications can be submitted in person, online, or via post.
