Vietnam Prime Minister Le Minh Hung visits Russia for ASEAN‑Russia summit
Vietnam’s prime minister, Le Minh Hung, travelled to Kazan, Russia from 16‑18 June to attend the commemorative ASEAN‑Russia summit marking 35 years of dialogue. The summit focused on reviewing the strategic partnership, adopting new cooperation plans for 2026‑2030 and discussing regional security, trade and supply‑chain issues.
Vietnam positioned itself as a bridge between ASEAN and Russia, coordinating the bloc’s relations with Moscow for 2027‑2030. The two sides highlighted achievements such as an 82 % implementation rate of the 2021‑2025 action plan and bilateral trade worth US$17.81 billion in 2025. Vietnam seeks to expand collaboration in trade, energy, science and technology, digital transformation, education, tourism and security, leveraging its experience with the Eurasian Economic Union to deepen ASEAN‑Eurasia links.
