Vietnam expands tourism strategy with halal framework and culinary focus

Vietnam unveiled a new halal tourism framework, Decree 127, to attract Muslim travelers and standardise halal certification for food, accommodation and transport services. The decree outlines quality control, labelling, traceability and support policies, aiming to boost the country's appeal to the growing Muslim market.

At the same time, Vietnamese authorities are promoting a high‑value, sustainable tourism model that leverages the nation's cuisine. Reports highlight that food experiences drive a large share of domestic travel, with destinations such as Phú Quốc and Da Nang ranked among top culinary spots. The government is positioning gastronomy as a cultural asset to raise tourism revenue and diversify offerings.

Complementing these initiatives, Hanoi is encouraging a vibrant night‑time economy to strengthen the services sector, part of a broader shift from visitor volume to higher‑value tourism. Together, the halal certification system, culinary promotion, and night‑economy push aim to raise Vietnam’s tourism profile and earnings in the coming years.
