Vietnam traffic police crack down on illegal vehicles and traffic violations

In Hanoi, the road police unit CSGT 6 conducted a sweep of homemade and heavily modified cargo motorcycles and three‑wheel vehicles traveling on Đại Lộ Thăng Long. Officers seized dozens of unregistered, dilapidated machines, citing safety hazards and violations of Decree 168/2024, and imposed fines of 500,000‑700,000 VND with possible impoundment.

On the Ho Chi Minh City–Long Thành–Dầu Giây highway, a 41‑year‑old driver who stopped his vehicle to use the toilet was fined 12‑14 million VND and lost six licence points for failing to display the required warning triangle at least 150 m behind the stopped vehicle.

On the Phan Thiet–Vĩnh Hảo highway, a driver caught speeding was also found without a driver’s licence, with an expired vehicle registration, and without valid compulsory insurance. He received fines ranging from 800,000 VND to 20 million VND, penalties of two licence points, and his vehicle was detained for seven days.
