Vietnam traffic police fine driver, warn shippers on illegal stopping

In Hanoi, traffic police identified a driver of a small car with licence plate 29E‑578 who entered the opposite lane on Liên Mạc street on 20 June, causing a localized jam. The driver, P.V.D., admitted the violation of passing a truck without adequate visibility and was charged under Decree 168/2024 for illegal overtaking. He faces a fine of 4‑6 million VND and a deduction of two licence points, and police reminded motorists to only overtake when conditions are safe.

In Ho Chi Minh City, a video showed order‑keeping police confronting a delivery rider who had stopped his motorbike in the middle of the road to wait for an order. Officers instructed the rider to move the vehicle to the edge of the carriageway and cited the same decree, noting that stopping under the road or on sidewalks without permission violates traffic rules and can be fined 400 000‑600 000 VND. Police urged all shippers and drivers to park at the roadside or in designated areas and to respect traffic signs to avoid endangering other road users.
