Bac Ninh police fine driver for counterfeit licence plate

After a citizen reported seeing two vehicles with the same registration number 98A‑626.86, traffic police in Bac Ninh Province investigated and confirmed that a white VinFast VF7 was using a counterfeit plate that officially belongs to a black Ford Everest. The driver, identified as V. V. X of Yên Dũng, admitted buying the car without transferring ownership and purchasing the plate online. Police issued a citation for using an unauthorised licence plate and for driving without a proper vehicle registration certificate. The offence carries a possible fine of up to 44 million VND, a 10‑point deduction from the driver’s licence and seizure of the fake plate.
