Vietnam traffic police fine drivers for unsafe cargo, reckless riding and distracted bus driving

In Ho Chi Minh City, a 40‑year‑old truck driver who placed two concrete pillars—each over 5 m long and weighing about 600 kg—on the roof of his truck without securing them was fined 11.8 million VND and had four licence points withdrawn. The vehicle’s owner was also fined 20 million VND for allowing the violation.

In Hưng Yên province, three teenage girls riding a motorbike without helmets, weaving through traffic and travelling against the posted direction were cited for multiple offences. The driver and the two passengers each face fines for lacking helmets and dangerous manoeuvres, while their father was fined for permitting an under‑16 individual to operate the bike. The total penalties could reach roughly 28.7 million VND.

In Nghệ An province, a passenger‑bus driver was caught singing karaoke on a handheld electronic device while the vehicle was in motion. Police fined the driver 5.9 million VND and deducted four licence points for using a device and failing to wear a safety belt. All three cases were processed by the provincial traffic police (CSGT) as part of ongoing road‑safety enforcement.
