Vietnam tourism and retail surge during National Day holiday
Vietnam experienced a significant surge in tourism and consumer activity during the National Day holiday period. Various provinces reported high visitor numbers and increased revenue through cultural festivals, ethnic markets, and scenic attractions.
In Son La, tourism activities were vibrant with approximately 385,000 visitors, generating over 304 billion VND. The Moc Chau Cultural and Tourism Week and border markets like Long Sap attracted many travelers interested in local ethnic traditions and crafts. Similarly, Lao Cai welcomed nearly 500,000 guests, earning roughly 1,900 billion VND, with Sa Pa remaining a primary destination.
Other regions also saw strong performance. Ninh Binh hosted nearly half a million visitors, particularly at sites like Trang An. Quang Ngai recorded 250,000 visitors, a 30% increase from the previous year, driven by its islands and highlands. Phu Tho saw 350,000 visitors, while Ho Chi Minh City reported a significant influx of domestic and international tourists.
Beyond domestic travel, Vietnamese businesses expanded their international presence. At the Asia Fruit Logistica fair in Hong Kong, Vietnamese enterprises signed contracts worth approximately 5 million USD, showcasing high-quality products like durian and dragon fruit to global markets.
