Vietnam traffic police seize foreign rider's motorbike, fine driver for railway crossing breach

On 6 June, Da Nang traffic police (CSGT) detained a motorbike belonging to an Armenian national, born in 2002, after video footage showed him riding with both hands off the handlebar on a city street. The authorities issued an administrative violation notice under Decree 168/2024/NĐ‑CP and seized the vehicle.

On 30 May, reported on 5 June, Dak Lak province traffic police fined a driver from Gia Lai province for deliberately crossing an automatic railway barrier while it was lowering. The violation carries a fine of 18‑20 million VND and a possible suspension of the driver’s licence under Decree 81/2026/NĐ‑CP. Police warned that such actions pose a high risk of severe rail‑road accidents and urged strict compliance with signals and barriers.
