Vietnam university majors to undergo restructuring

Starting from the 2027 university admissions cycle, numerous academic majors in Vietnam will undergo name and code adjustments. This change follows Circular 74/2026/TT-BGDĐT issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, which took effect on October 12, 2026.

Significant restructuring will occur across several sectors. In business, fields such as Brand Management and Corporate Management will be consolidated into Business Administration, while Digital Marketing and Communications will be grouped under Marketing. In the technology sector, Computer Science and Information Science will be reorganized into Computer Science, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will be categorized under Artificial Intelligence.

The health sector will also see changes, with Biomedical Science transitioning to Medicine and Pharmacology being reorganized into Pharmacy. Additionally, various foreign language teaching programs will be consolidated into Foreign Language Pedagogy. Universities are currently reviewing their programs to ensure compliance and will release updated admission plans to help students avoid confusion between old and new major codes.
