Vietnam unveils 80‑year War Invalids and Martyrs Day plan

Vice‑Premier Phạm Thị Thanh Trà signed Decision No. 1471/QĐ‑TTg on 31 July 2026, issuing a comprehensive plan to mark the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s War Invalids and Martyrs Day (27 July 1947‑27 July 2027). The plan implements the Party Secretariat’s 57‑KL/TW conclusions, defining tasks, deliverables, timelines and the responsibilities of ministries, central agencies and local governments.

Key objectives include upgrading 100 % of memorial sites nationwide, encouraging every province and city to establish a martyr shrine, completing a 500‑day campaign to locate and identify unknown war remains, renovating care centres for veterans, rebuilding housing for children of war‑affected families, and providing gifts or cash to veteran mothers. The programme also calls for heightened propaganda, education and moral responsibility, especially among youth, to honour the sacrifices of veterans and their families.
