Vietnam updates leadership protection laws and labor regulations

Vietnam is undergoing several legislative and political updates. New regulations regarding protection measures for high-ranking officials, including the General Secretary, President, Prime Minister, and Chairperson of the National Assembly, are set to take effect on July 1, 2026. These measures include security for residences, workplaces, and travel via specialized vehicles or aircraft.

In labor law discussions, a proposal has been made to establish November 24 as ‘Vietnam Culture Day,’ a paid holiday for all employees. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs aims to standardize the notification of annual holidays by September 30 of the preceding year to assist businesses and citizens with planning.

On a political level, the Politburo has issued Directive 07, which emphasizes the practical application of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics, and methods. The directive seeks to shift from theoretical learning to substantive action and measurable results, aiming to eliminate formalism among party members and officials.
