The Vietnamese automotive market experienced a significant recovery in September 2026, with total sales reaching approximately 62,590 vehicles, a 22.5% increase compared to August. This growth follows a seasonal dip during the lunar seventh month. VAMA members accounted for 35,094 units, representing a 38% month-on-month increase.

VinFast continues to dominate the market, selling 23,624 electric vehicles. Notable individual models include the VinFast VF 3, which led the monthly top 10 list with 6,474 units, and the VinFast Limo Green MPV. In the D-SUV segment, the VinFast VF 8 emerged as the leader with 1,494 units sold in September.

There is a clear consumer shift toward electric and hybrid vehicles. While internal combustion engine (ICE) models like the Toyota Yaris Cross lead in cumulative 9-month sales, hybrid technology is gaining rapid traction. Additionally, intense price competition is occurring among 7-seater models, with manufacturers like Mitsubishi, Honda, and Toyota offering significant discounts and registration fee support to attract buyers.
